Refund & Cancellation Policy
This Refund & Cancellation Policy explains how refunds and cancellations are handled on the MIF-CHECKOUT platform. Please read this alongside our Terms of Service.
1. Shopper orders (goods bought from a merchant)
When you place an order through MIF-CHECKOUT's checkout, the seller of record is the merchant whose store you were purchasing from. Refunds, cancellations, returns and exchanges of goods are governed by the merchant's own refund policy, which is published on their Shopify storefront.
- Cancellation windows, return periods, restocking fees and exchange rules are set by the merchant.
- Prepaid refunds are processed back to the original payment method, typically within 5–7 business days after the merchant approves the refund.
- COD refunds require the shopper to share a bank account or UPI ID with the merchant. MIF-CHECKOUT never asks you for this information directly.
- For any dispute with a merchant, first raise it with the merchant. If unresolved, escalate to our Grievance Officer.
2. Merchant fees (B2B)
MIF-CHECKOUT charges merchants on a usage-based, post-paid model — a per-order fee is accrued at the time each order is placed and invoiced on the 1st of the following month.
a. When we reverse a per-order fee
- The order was demonstrably fraudulent (e.g. fake COD, chargeback confirmed by the payment gateway) — fee is fully reversed.
- The order failed at MIF-CHECKOUT's side (server error) and never reached the merchant's Shopify Orders tab — fee is fully reversed.
- The order was placed in test mode by the merchant — fee is fully reversed.
Fee reversals are initiated from the OMS admin panel and applied to your next monthly invoice as a credit line item. To request a reversal, email our support email with the order ID and the reason.
b. When we do NOT reverse a per-order fee
- The shopper cancelled the order after placement.
- The merchant refunded the order for their own reasons (customer request, out of stock, etc.).
- The order was returned (RTO) — the checkout service was already rendered.
c. Invoice disputes
Merchants have 7 days from invoice date to raise disputes on any line item. After 7 days, invoices are deemed accepted. Undisputed invoices are due within 15 days. Overdue invoices may result in service suspension per the Terms of Service.
3. Refund method & timelines
- UPI / Cards / Netbanking: 5–7 business days from approval.
- Wallets: 2–3 business days from approval.
- NEFT/IMPS (to bank account): 2–5 business days after we receive validated bank details.
4. No-refund cases
The following are not eligible for refund of MIF-CHECKOUT platform fees:
- Custom-integration setup fees, once work has commenced.
- Onboarding call fees, once the call has been delivered.
- Third-party costs (SMS credits, WhatsApp template charges) already consumed.
